Santa cruz hyundai 201711/5/2023 ![]() Each is an admirable way to downsize from the larger classes of trucks. Either way, you can’t go wrong as it really comes down to personal preference. If anything, the Santa Cruz is perhaps more like a sporty compact SUV with a truck bed, whereas the Maverick is a miniature truck. ![]() The Maverick crushes the Santa Cruz with its 37-mpg hybrid powertrain but the Hyundai counters with more features, a nicer interior and a very generous warranty. The Maverick gains a slight advantage with its marginally larger bed but the Santa Cruz can tow up to 5,000 pounds (1,000 lbs more than the Maverick). In terms of price, it's comparable to the Santa Cruz on the low end but lacks the more luxurious top trims from Hyundai. The Maverick also rides on a unibody platform, but looks more like a traditional truck. Two years later, the 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz is fundamentally unchanged, but the compact pickup truck class has grown to include the Ford Maverick. In some ways it's similar to the larger midsize Honda Ridgeline in that it's mechanically related to a crossover SUV and benefits from a smoother-riding unibody construction. Hyundai debuted the Santa Cruz in 2022, making it the smallest truck on the market and an intriguing choice for light-duty users. That's where the revival of the compact pickup comes in. Even midsize trucks such as the Toyota Tacoma and Chevrolet Colorado may exceed many shoppers' needs. That's great for those who will push their rig close to the limit for towing and hauling, but let's face it, not everybody needs to pull tree stumps or tow a space shuttle. Pickup trucks are the best-selling vehicles in the United States and over the years, they've been growing in size and capabilities. Pros: Fun and refined to drive high-class interior great tech clever bed features Cons: Cramped back seat high price with turbo engine slow and inefficient base engine 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz Review: When you don't need to tow a space shuttle It's more compact crossover with a bed than it is a truck, but that's OK

(The idiom “the pope’s mustard maker,” which refers to a pompous person in an insignificant role, came from this appointment.) By 1855, a man named Maurice Grey was winning awards for his Dijon-mustard-making machine, the first of its kind to automate the process. Pope John XII of Avignon declared a new Vatican position called Grand Moutardier du Pape, or Grand Mustard Maker to the Pope, and appointed his nephew, believed to be a dilettante living near Dijon, to mix all his mustards. ![]() ![]() The Duke of Burgundy, an avid 14th-century mustard lover, held a gala where guests reportedly consumed 85 gallons of Dijon in a single sitting. In the French city now synonymous with the condiment, they made their mustard with verjus, the tart juice of unripe grapes, which made a sharper, more sophisticated variety soon coveted around the country. They mixed young wine with the crushed seeds of the medicinal plant, tasted the paste, and named the new flavor sensation “flaming hot must.” Long before the Silk Road opened to Europe, mustard (mustum being the Romans’ unfermented grape juice, and ardens the Latin for “fiery”) was one of the continent’s first breakout spices, and it soon spread to the rest of the world. Physician Hippocrates applied mustard plasters to chests and let the heat from the dressing loosen phlegm and ease breathing.Īround the 4th century CE, the Romans had a new idea. Scientist Pythagoras found that the essential oils, when applied to a wound, pulled toxins from the body, which led him to use mustard as a treatment for scorpion stings. As early as the 5th century BCE, the Greeks prized the easy-to-grow plant for its antiseptic properties and ability to stimulate blood circulation.
